Strategic Interventions require change agents to manifest knowledge, skill, practice, and grace in helping organizations grow, change and develop in the short term and in meeting the challenges of the future. This program combines the content and exercises of two programs from Step 4 in the NTL’s OD Certificate Program, Facilitating Strategic Planning and Intervention Strategies, to expand conceptual frameworks on strategy and build the skills and knowledge to intervene at multiple organizational levels. It draws on participants' and faculty's collective knowledge and experiences for enhancing strategic change efforts through intentional interventions.
The desired outcome is to become more capable and confident in delivering an OD approach to strategy and intervention work.
Strategic Interventions Learning Objectives
This virtual program (8 Webinar Modules of 90 minutes each with a package of Video Learning Units about 10 – 20 minutes each) is designed around the following objectives:
- To explore a functional model for strategic planning and understand the OD intervention theories and techniques required for its implementation.
- To appreciate the significance of assessing organizational change processes within a strategic context and develop skills for enacting these change processes.
- To enhance one’s perspective, skill, and confidence in facilitating strategy formulation and implementation, and the choices necessary for the successful design and delivery of OD interventions.
- To increase self-awareness of individual strengths and augment skills for using self as an instrument for change in OD interventions.
- To examine dimensions for the delivery of interventions such as: power, authority, influence, diversity and other factors affecting system dynamics.
Pre-Work: Assigned pre-work includes Video Learning Units, readings, reflections based on experiences, and a one-on-one 30-minute telephone conversation with faculty.
Webinar Sessions: 8 virtual sessions integrate theory, small group discussions, and exercises. These sessions use Zoom and are recorded.
Ongoing work between Virtual Webinar Sessions: A package of Video Learning Units (10 – 20 minutes each) support the webinars. Learning partners are assigned and required to have reflective conversations between webinars for a report back to the learning community.
Materials: A newly compiled Strategic Interventions workbook is provided electronically.
Technology: Webinar Sessions occur on Zoom. Video Learning Units are delivered through Moodle. In addition, participants are provided with a shared “private” area in the NTL Slack space for collaboration. At the end of the program, the contents of that space are downloaded, sent to each participant, and deleted from Slack.
Confidentiality: This program adheres to the highest standards of confidentiality in terms of information, deliverables and IT security.
